The regulations, which were last updated across-the-board in 2012, go into effect on Jan. 1 and bring the country into line with international standards on measuring the risks of banking assets
The way Chinese banks assess the risks of the assets on their balance sheets is about to change. That’s good news for some and bad news for others.

New rules for China’s banks to determine their risk exposure and capital requirements are slated to go into effect on Jan. 1, as regulators bring the country’s banking system into line with the latest international standards set by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS).
