When XPeng Inc. CEO He Xiaopeng stepped on stage during a vehicle launch event in Munich last month, he was doing more than unveiling a new model.

For the first time, the Chinese electric-vehicle (EV) maker chose an overseas venue for a global product debut, pitching the model simultaneously to European and Chinese consumers. Despite his limited proficiency in foreign languages, He delivered the entire presentation in English.
